Logistics hall at the Skandinavienkai
A large-scale project at the port of Lübeck
Skandinavienkai in Lübeck is the largest ferry port on the Baltic. In 2019, the Lübeck Port Authority (LPA) commissioned construction of a 300 m long, 120 m wide and 15 m high logistics hall. The bearing system and the roof and wall panels had to be made of timber. This required a total of:
- 31 double tapered beams with a length of approx. 28 m
- 31 fish-bellied girders with a length of approx. 43 m
- 31 fish-bellied girders with a length of approx. 48 m
- 16 parallel beams with a length of approx. 48 m
- Approx. 18,000 metres of bracing and tension bars
Logistics from WIEHAG
WIEHAG supplied the components for the roof supporting structure and the wall construction. Numerous special transports and extra-long transports were required for this purpose:
- 32 special transports and 28 standard transports or extra-long transports up to 24 metres for the roof structure
- 5 extra-long transports up to 22 metres for the wall construction
The total delivery time was seven weeks. The components were assembled by Mohrmann Bau GmbH.
The logistics hall on the Skandinavienkai was above all a logistical challenge: Bringing the support structure for a 36,000 m² hall to northern Germany was only possible with good planning.
