In the heart of Monheim Mitte, WIEHAG executes the structural system, façade assemblies, and roof elements for four newly constructed timber-hybrid buildings.

The timber-hybrid ensemble, designed by Heine Architekten (Hamburg), is based on a structurally efficient primary system comprising timber columns, timber-concrete composite ribbed slabs, and prefabricated timber frame façades. WIEHAG Timber Construction is responsible for the structural framework as well as the wall and roof elements for three of the four buildings.

Sustainability

Holistic Sustainability Across All Building Systems

The Monheim Mitte project is deliberately guided by sustainable construction principles: extensive green roofs, large-scale photovoltaic systems, and generous green spaces enhance the microclimate and promote biodiversity.
The hybrid construction method – combining timber, concrete, and steel – reduces material consumption, optimizes life-cycle costs, and lowers CO₂ emissions.
A high degree of prefabrication further shortens construction time and minimizes on-site emissions.

Integration of timber-concrete hybrid structures under seismic design requirements
Development and installation of prefabricated façade elements, including window systems

WIEHAG Timber Construction is responsible for the cross-trade execution of the structural system, façade, and roof:

Load-bearing structure composed of glulam columns, precast concrete beams, and timber-concrete composite ribbed slabs
Prefabrication of wall and roof elements in timber frame construction, including windows and doors
Fabrication and installation of steel components
