TIMBER HYBRID CONSTRUCTION
IN NEW DIMENSIONS

German Timber Construction Congress (DHK 2026)

BUILDING WITH TIMBER
IN URBAN ENVIRONMENTS

The 7th German Timber Construction Congress (DHK 2026) will take place on 14 and 15 April 2026 at Hotel MOA Berlin. Johannes Rebhahn, Head of International Timber Projects at WIEHAG, will present two of WIEHAG’s flagship timber hybrid projects: Atlassian Central in Sydney and The CubeHouse in Amsterdam.

Titled “Reaching New Heights,” his presentation on Wednesday, 15 April at 8:30 a.m. (Block A3) will highlight these two international landmark projects. Both are pioneering examples of hybrid construction, demonstrating how WIEHAG’s Timber Intelligence is advancing timber construction into new dimensions – architecturally, technologically and in terms of climate performance.

Growing urban populations, limited space and ambitious climate targets are driving the demand for new construction solutions. Modern timber engineering offers a compelling answer. As a renewable material, timber can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also storing carbon, making a meaningful contribution to climate protection. In combination with other materials, it enables new approaches to resource-efficient and sustainable building.

WIEHAG’s Timber Intelligence – combining engineering expertise, advanced industrial production and precise project execution – plays a key role in delivering future-ready buildings in urban environments. Detailed planning and high-precision prefabrication meet complex structural and regulatory requirements. A high degree of prefabrication, together with carefully coordinated logistics, allows for shorter construction times and reduced emissions during the construction of multi-storey timber buildings.

Beyond ecological and technical performance, quality of life is a key factor in shaping the cities of tomorrow. Timber buildings create a natural and comfortable environment, offering a human-centred space in harmony with nature – for living, working and well-being. This is becoming increasingly important, particularly in densely built urban areas.
