Key elements of this pioneering concept are the use of natural materials, the conservation of resources and the minimisation of the ecological footprint. Thanks to the timber-hybrid construction method, large quantities of CO2 are sequestered long-term within the load-bearing structure made of glulam. The same applies to the façade, which is constructed using timber frame technology. Thanks to our expertise in engineering, production and project management, we are setting a new benchmark in terms of the degree of prefabrication for this project. In addition to GLT columns and beams (totalling 5,600 m³), our plant in Altheim is also manufacturing 850 elements, up to 3.80 m high and up to 12 m long, including window installations, ready for assembly for the approximately 24,000 m² façade area. The high precision and assured quality of the timber components enable rapid on-site assembly and a reduction in construction time, an essential advantage particularly for inner-city construction projects.
The cutting-edge Friedrich und Karl office and administrative building, with a gross floor area of over 66,000 m², meets the highest energy and environmental standards in every respect. This is reflected in the climate-friendly timber-hybrid construction, sustainable energy generation, the innovative mobility concept and the spacious, green outdoor areas. The project has already been awarded the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) Platinum pre-certificate.
