The 6th Fórum Internacional de Construcción con Madera (FMC), taking place on 3 and 4 June 2026, is one of the most important specialist events for modern timber engineering in Spain and brings together international experts from architecture, engineering, research and industry each year. The focus is on innovative solutions for smart and sustainable timber construction.
WIEHAG PRESENTATION LOGISTICS CENTRE EDEKA
A MILESTONE IN TIMBER ENGINEERING
We are delighted to be taking part in this prestigious industry gathering in Pamplona in 2026, where leading companies and experts from many countries will come together to discuss opportunities and prospects for timber construction. Numerous international flagship projects realised with our Timber Intelligence demonstrate the scale and potential of modern timber engineering today.
One of these projects – the EDEKA logistics centre in Marktredwitz – will be presented live to the specialist audience by Patric Walter, Head of Product Management & Innovation at WIEHAG Timber Construction. The project demonstrates how large-scale logistics buildings can be delivered sustainably and efficiently using timber. More than 15,000 m³ of glulam (GLT) was used across a hall area of over 100,000 m². The logistics centre was remarkable not only for its scale, but also for the structural challenges and innovations involved: for the first time, a 36-metre-high high-bay warehouse was constructed using timber, and specially developed timber-concrete hybrid columns were employed. WIEHAG Timber Construction was responsible for the complete engineering, fabrication, transport logistics and assembly of this pioneering project. The EDEKA logistics centre showcases the potential of modern timber construction in international logistics facilities and underlines the strength of our Timber Intelligence.
