NEW HEADQUARTERS
RAIFFEISENLANDESBANK UPPER AUSTRIA

On 21 May 2026, construction officially began on the new headquarters of Raiffeisenlandesbank Upper Austria in Linz, Austria. This complex multi-storey project is set to bring timber construction in Austria into a new dimension.

For WIEHAG, the project also represents a major milestone — our first landmark timber project of this dimension in our home market.

Landmark Project for Sustainable Construction in Austria

COLLABORATION
FROM THE VERY BEGINNING

With the new headquarters of Raiffeisenlandesbank Upper Austria, a flagship project for climate-conscious construction, sustainable urban development and future-oriented workspaces is taking shape.

The innovative eight-storey building is being realised in timber-hybrid construction — brought to life with WIEHAG Timber Intelligence from the preconstruction phase through to installation.

TIMBER-HYBRID CONSTRUCTION

ACTIVE CLIMATE PROTECTION
BUILDINGS AS CARBON STORAGE

Compared to a conventional reinforced concrete structure, the timber-hybrid construction generates around 36% fewer embodied CO₂ emissions. In addition, the timber used stores large amounts of carbon within its structure. By using approximately 4,600 m³ of glulam and cross-laminated timber, around 3,150 tonnes of CO₂ are permanently stored over the long term.

Open, flexible and multifunctional — the new headquarters, designed by Henn Architects from Munich (GER), is conceived as an inspiring place for interaction within the urban environment. At its heart is a central atrium that creates fluid transitions between different areas and redefines traditional office structures. Through visible timber, an indoor garden and the careful selection of materials and finishes, the biophilic design creates a warm and high-quality spatial experience.
