One-stop solutions for roofs
WIEHAG offers – on request – one-stop solutions for roofs, this includes load-carrying structures as well as roof elements. The portfolio of WIEHAG includes the following: constructional consulting and design, calculations, production, logistics and assembly including the roof cladding.
The main applications include the following: buildings for industry and trade, logistic centres, sports complexes (stadiums, ice skating halls, indoor swimming pools, riding halls, tennis halls, …) and other special constructions.
The main advantages of WIEHAG timber solutions are:
- clear spans in excess of 100m – the space inside a hall can be used efficiently as there is no need for supporting pillars.
- the low weight of timber as compared to other structural materials reduces the load on the foundations

Why WIEHAG timber? Benefits:
- large clear spans
- the net weight of timber is only 10-20% of the weight of concrete; this also means only 10-20% of transports. It goes without saying that the lower weight also simplifies the assembly.
- parts are accurately pre-fabricated and this reduces the time needed for assembly dramatically by up to 50% - timber construction is pre-fabrication.
- resistance to chemicals
- fire resistance is predictable
- glued laminated timber offers nearly unlimited possibilities with regard to shapes and sizes

Aggressive materials – a must for timber – a must for WIEHAG
Complex construction projects with very specific demands are a challenge that WIEHAG is willing to accept. The salt barn in Ebensee (Austria) is a good example. The Salinen AG originally preferred a steel construction as they were not aware of the benefits that timber has to offer. However, WIEHAG was able to convince the management of the Salinen AG. WIEHAG glued laminated timber solutions are resistant to acids and offer an ideal climate for the storage of salt. The consistency of salt is not affected.
Another salt barn built by WIEHAG is situated in Bischofferode (Germany). Its unique form proves the numerous possibilities offered by WIEHAG timber. General contractor was our partner “Nolte Systembau”.

Tested quality: control of timber torsion using laser technology, x-ray, coloured images, laser scan, electronically linked production facilities, electronic control of the position of the annual rings, electronically controlled cross cut saw.

Facts: Delivery for the shipping company Anker in Emden, Netherlands – WIEHAG transported individual parts that were 65 meters long.
WIEHAG has also gained experience in the transport of extremely long and high pre-fabricated parts (e.g. for the construction of bridges).
